A lot of people suffer from sensitive skin. Many products bother or irritate the skin. Which makes you cautious of trying new products or letting new people touch or handle your skin.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Today, I want to help you understand something. Sensitive Skin is not a skin type. Sensitive Skin is a condition. Let me say that again. Sensitive Skin is not a skin type. Sensitive Skin is a condition. Typically, a condition we have brought on ourselves. Either through diet, products we use or any aggressive treatments or over exfoliation.
You may be thinking, how on earth can my diet cause my skin to be sensitive? Foods like dairy, sugary snacks, fried foods, and alcohol can trigger skin issues.
Products? Many products contain harmful and toxic ingredients. These ingredients repeatedly applied to the skin may cause hypersensitivity.
Over exfoliating the skin can make it sensitive. Prime example, do you use a scrub daily? If so, you are over exfoliating and can be causing your skin to become sensitive.
Aggressive Treatments? If you get aggressive treatments done to frequently you can cause the skin to become sensitive.
Now, I know what you are thinking. Ok I have sensitive skin; how can I fix it? I am so glad you asked. First my recommendation is to see a licensed esthetician. He or She can help you determine the cause and then get you an at home care routine that will work for you.
The esthetician is likely going to have you stop using your current skin care routine. Next, they will recommend you start using one or two products geared towards sensitive skin in an effort to calm the skin. That’s all the tips I am given today. Need an esthetician. Come and book with me, together we can reach your skin care goals.
